General Screen Film Radiography and Its Limitations

چکیده
X-rays are electromagnetic (EM) radiation with characteristics of short wavelengths, very high frequencies and very high energy. High energy EM radiation exhibits characteristics of both waves and discrete bundles of energy called photons. X-ray photon energy is usually measured in kilo-electron volts (keV) and diagnostic x-ray energies are typically 10 to 150 keV. Such high energy EM radiation is ionising. Ionising radiation has potential harmful effects when it irradiates human tissue (Bushberg et al, 2002; Curry et al, 1990; Graham & Cloke, 2003).

A Comparison of the effectiveness of Mammographic Film-Screen and Standard Film-Screen in the Detection of Small Bone Fractures
The use of mammography film-screen is limited in general radiography. The purpose of this study was to compare the effectiveness of mammographic film-screen and standard film-screen systems in the detection of small bone fractures. Radiographs were taken from patients' extremities and neck areas using mammography film-screen and standard film-screen (n=57 each). Fourteen other radiographs were ...

Introduction Blue light is a part of the spectrum with the highest energy content, which can reach the retina. The damage that it can cause to the retina is called photochemical or blue-light retinal injury. For the retinal injury assessment of the photochemical and aphakic retinal hazards in the wavelength range of 300-700 nm, use of effective spectral radiance limits (W.m-2.sr-1) seems to be...
متن کاملDevelopment of Radiographic Contrast-Enhancement Masks
Radiographic contrast-enhancement mask (RCM) algorithms were developed to overcome some limitations of general digital radiography (DR). Large attenuation differences of some anatomical regions result in exit radiation having a wide dynamic range. In general radiography, this results in anatomy not being fully visualised in the image or being displayed with suboptimal contrast. Physical tissue ...

OBJECTIVE The objective of this study was to assess the impact of filmless operation and computed radiography on technologists' examination times compared with conventional film-based operation and film-screen radiography. CONCLUSION Compared with conventional film-screen operation, filmless operation using computed radiography was associated with a significant decrease in technologist examin...
